Blissdom 2012 | Nashville, TN….a little life lesson

Posted by on Feb 27, 2012 in blog | 15 comments

I headed to Nashville for the Blissdom 2012 Conference this past weekend with one of my dear friends Angela, from Unexpected EleganceMoritz Fine Designs at Blissdom 2012

We arrived to 74 degrees and sunshine…a great way to kick off our amazingly busy and fun weekend.  I had a few goals for the weekend, I thought I might be able to hook up with some current clients, meet some new bloggers and gain more insight into the Blogging World.

So, I did meet my goals:

I got to hang out with some of my clients I work with A LOT, like Ruth from Living Well Spending Less and Paul and Tiffany from I Heart the Mart and My Litter.  I also got to touch base with many others, such as Kristan from Moneywise Shopper, Kasey and Jamie at Time2SaveWorkshops.com, Brittney and Bethany at A Penny Filled Pantry as well as Melissa and Shelley at Stockpiling Moms and MANY others!

I was so privileged to meet many new bloggers, but i had a little more time to hang out with Edie at Life in Grace {thanks for the shopping trip!!} and Patty from Finding Serendipity {your pix are so BEAUTIFUL!!} and Emily from Simply Complicated {welcome to the blogging world!!}.

And my goal of gaining more insight gave be a big kick in the pants with the opening keynote speaker, Jon Acuff. He wrote a book called Quitter…and might I mention that he is hilarious!  In the middle of his keynote he talked about how in the middle of tweeting his daughter wrote a note and put it on a napkin by his laptop.  the napkin said “Daddy pay atenshun”.  hmmm.  Then he followed up with an illustration about how can you be on the phone and have your kid running toward you with open arms to be picked up, but you are too busy…He said, “The years you lose are not for sale again later.”  WOW.  Having an office at home is hardBoundaries are hard. But my kids need boundaries.  I need boundaries.  So today, started the THrEE O’CloCK  computer shut down.  My oldest kiddo gets off the bus at 3, and the other get off the bus at 4.  I need to be a mom first, so that my kids remember me paying attention to them, not my computer.

Living Well Spending Less.com | WordPress Blog ReDesign

I really believe I have been blessed with a dream job! The flexibility to be able to make my own schedule, do something I l.o.v.E AND work with a fabulous group of clients!  Truly, this has been confirmed when clients turn into friends!  So glad I can say that about Ruth, from Living Well Spending Less. She has such a heart of gold and is an amazing blogger as well {did i mention she has FOUR sites???}  When January rolled around it was time for a little housekeeping on a few of the sites…and of course, that meant using the dahlia flower…since she love, love, loves it!  Check out her WordPress Blogs by clicking on the images below!

I had the privilege to work with Joy, from portis.org, on her transfer of Blogger site to WordPress.  This design slowed me down…because I was continually stopping to R.E.A.D….to read the {amazing} stories of their family!  8 kids.  That is a story in and of itself!  God has given Joy an amazing gift of compassion and it was so inspiring to read her journey of motherhood.  You will love to read her story too!

A long Over-Due Update

Posted by on Feb 15, 2012 in blog, blog design, WordPress | 2 comments

I knew it had been a while since I update the blog, but geesh…almost 4 months!!  I could throw all my excuses at you like, the Holidays, a crazy schedule involving 3 boys’ sports schedules, moving into a new home just a few days before Christmas, and on and on…but mainly just the fact that I have put the social media at the bottom of the list!  So, here is my attempt to catch you up with some designs from the past couple of months…I’ll try to add a few every day or so!

This site had quite a drastic change….it was VERY girly before, boasting of lots of hot pink and is now transitioned into something a bit more gender neutral!

Extreme Queens Couponing Blog design done by MoritzFineDesings.com

The owners of RestyledFurniture.com are sooo busy re-purposing furniture and now they are also selling the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!  All of this meant it was time for a new site.  We worked together last year and put together a site that really focused on their images of the furniture..but now they needed to have the capability to sell the Chalk Paint online {might i mention that i can’t WAIT to get my hands on some of this stuff and try it out??!…oh so many new projects I have mind for our new house!!}

Well, now RestyledFurniture is set up on a WordPress Platform with the eCommerce set up as well!  If you are local Indianapolis people and want to buy the chalk paint, Restyled is opening a STORE FRONT next week!  WHOO HOO! I can’t wait to check it out!  If you want to find out more about their store, go here.

The Crazy About Savin.com site accidentally had to go live a week before, Wendy (the blogger) was ready!  Hmmm, can you imagine that something got messed up with her domain through Google on Blogger??!!  Well, thankfully the design was complete and I was able to get her transferred over to WordPress quickly.  As always, there is a bit of a learning curve, but the end result is pure happiness with WordPress…come on all you out there on Blogger, what are you waiting for?

It was so much fun to work with Samantha from Samantha Bryant PR because she came to me with clear direction for her design. She wanted a classy, vintage/retro and fresh look for her site.  I think that MFD was able to capture that look for her:

I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of frugal bloggers and one of the girl’s I have worked with the longest is Tiffany, from MyLitter.com. I am truly amazed at the many things she accomplishes in her life–mother of 7, full-time blogger, director of a pre-school, amazing wife!  Thanks, Tiffany for allowing me to work on your site’s re-design!

Brandy, from “Small Town Savvy” is a mid-westerner at heart!  So…she wanted to express her location through her WordPress Design!  If you live in Indiana (aahhem, yes, I am a Hoosier too!) the best way to represent your location is through a classic red barn!

Good luck, Brandy on your new endeavor!  I am sure you will do great!
